Christmassy Detective Antics - Yes, It's Our New Single!

Occasional visitors to this web page will have missed out on bucketloads of exciting news and other stuff that we've put up over the last 12 months. Regular visitors will know that's total nonsense and we haven't updated anything since last Christmas. That's because, as is well known, mice hibernate. What's less well known is that they hibernate for the whole year except for Christmas. Or maybe that's just us.

Last Christmas we unleashed Hey, Hey, It's Christmas Day onto an unsuspecting world. This year we're back with a brand new single. It's part of a limited edition compilation CD from Cherryade Records: A Very Cherry Christmas - Volume 16. Available soon on Bandcamp. We think. Anyway, when we know for sure we'll include a link here.

The song's called Who Nicked Santa's Trousers? (A Christmas Whodunnit) and tells of the crisis that occurred when Santa lost his trousers and hired in a detective to find them. See if you can identify the culprit before all is revealed at the end of the song. In fact, you could get a bunch of friends and family together and listen to the song up until 03:42 - then pause it and see which of you can work out what really happened. We think this activity should become a central part of everyone's Christmas celebrations.

So if you want to add a bit of sleuthing and mystery solving to your Christmas, you'll just have to buy the CD. We are, of course hoping everyone who hears the song will keep the ending to themselves. Please don't tweet any spoilers!

Wash Your Hands: The Motion Picture

A 20 second song to sing whilst washing your hands, to ensure they're properly clean and Covid free. This animation has been shown in hospitals up and down the country. (Sorry about the typo - that should have read "This animation has NOT been shown in hospitals up and down the country")

Gloria

Gloria is a very good U2 song - but to make it truly great it needs ukuleles, so we decided to record a ukulele version. Admittedly the ukes were put through guitar effects pedals to give them a bit more edge (hee hee!) We felt the combination of wailing ukuleles and a singalong latin chorus made this an ideal song for Valentine's Day.

Song for Signe

We decided to have a go at something a bit more serious for a change. This is a song dedicated to the wonderful Signe Anderson, the original female singer with Jefferson Airplane.

Lockdown

We thought we couldn't really encapsulate the pandemic in a 20 second song, so we recorded this one to prove we couldn't encapsulate it in a 4 minute song either.

Hard Times of Old England (Covid Version)

The final song in our entirely unplanned Covid trilogy. We wrote this for a local "write a song about Covid" competition (we forget whether that was the exact name of the competition). To our amazement we actually won. We got an actual prize and everything. We were even assured that there really were other entries.
